The board for protection of environment was established in August, 1988. The main duty of the board is for protecting environment in areas exploited by Vietsovpetro Joint-venture Enterprise.

The following applicable regulations to protect environment such as The law on protecting environment has been frequently organizing inspections, examination of producing units (at sea and sea-shore) by The board, Decree No. 175/CP stipulating the direction for implementing The law on protecting the environment, Regulation on Protecting the environment in oil field.

The board has always stood by 24/24 to help and handle the oil spill and carry out contracts of assistance service of oil spill for other enterprises as requested.
